Position Summary The position is to support basic and translational research on brain tumors to develop personalized care for patients.
The employee will be involved in setting up and managing the lab and supporting brain tumor research using murine models and patient samples.
As such the position will involve handling mice with brain tumors for studying tumor development, and responses to intramural therapies.
The position will also entail basic research using cell cultures and reagents for basic science experiments.
This position also supports clinical research in brain tumors through regulatory, administrative, patient interactions, and sample management.
Will assist in the day-to-day management of numerous clinical studies that are presently ongoing in the brain tumor program.
This will entail the collection and management of regulatory documents, IRB submissions and interactions with patients both in clinic and during study visits.
The individual in this position will also be collecting patient blood or tissue samples from clinic, hospital or CTRC.
Some downstream processing of samples will also be required.
For all work involving blood, the employee will be expected to use safe handling techniques including proper disposal and other safety measures as mandated by OSHA regulations.
This includes bloodborne pathogen training, the proper use of PPE and receipt of the hepatitis B vaccine.
Interactions with patients will require that the individual be trained in the protection of human subjects and GCP.
It is essential that the individual treat all patient information as confidential and that all HIPAA guidelines be followed.
Additionally, the individual should treat all patients with the utmost respect.
The employee will be expected to be well organized.
The employee will not be asked to prepare talks or papers outside of the group setting although he/she will be asked to provide study updates at the weekly sickle cell update meetings.
The employee may be asked to assist other sickle cell team members/laboratory personnel in a basic research laboratory, and may include sample processing.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience General knowledge of laboratory techniques, the use of laboratory equipment and basic laboratory procedures.
Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions as they relate to the laboratory analysis.
Ability to develop and maintain data worksheets in excel, and presentation templates in PowerPoint.
Ability to do basic statistical analyses.
Ability to document assay results, prepare written reports and enter data in computer.
Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Previous experience in clinical research, with a proven ability to interact with patient/clients and to act independently preferred.
Strongly prefer candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences.
Competency with flow cytometry.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
