Position Summary Information Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Gillings School's Department of Nutrition is a global leader in research and training.
We are the only nutrition department in the United States situated in both a school of public health and a school of medicine.
We engage in innovative work that capitalizes on both these schools' approaches to health, and thus our department has an unusual breadth of scientific and policy approaches.
Our faculty expertise spans from cell to society and moves from discovery to delivery.
Our faculty and students work throughout North Carolina and reach populations in China, India, Malawi, Spain and the Philippines, to name a few.
Position Summary This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Research technician will assist with studies of diabetes induced by exposure to environmental chemicals.
He/she will participate in experiments involving laboratory mice, in vitro models, and (bio)chemical analysis, using existing procedures and protocols.
He/she will be responsible for studying literature related to the research goals, for developing research plans, conducting experiments, recording, and analyzing and interpreting data.
The position may initiate development of new experimental design and methods.
Work includes training and supervision of others.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Must have experience working with laboratory mice or other rodents; experience in biochemical, chemical, and molecular biology analyses; and ability to perform experiments independently.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience MS degree in biology, chemistry or related sciences A minimum of 2 years of experience working with laboratory mice (rodents) and cell culture models Hands on experience in biochemical and molecular biology analyses Ability performing experiments independently and basic knowledge of statistical analysis Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Campus Security Authority Responsibilities Not Applicable.
Position/Schedule Requirements Animal Handler (non-DLAM), Carcinogen handlers (Labworkers), Evening work occasionally, Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Exposure to Hazardous Materials, Laboratory, Overtime occasionally, Weekend work occasionally.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
