Position Summary The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Core Director and the Core Manager, giving technical assistance toward providing cells, media and cell culture expertise as required for projects involving cell culture.
The principal tasks are tissue culture procedures, such as dissecting tissues, isolating, counting and distributing cells, preparing media and supplements, prepping animals and assisting with animal surgeries for experimental procedures.
Associated duties are maintaining extensive and detailed written and computerized records of all cultures, frozen stocks and cell distributions.
Computer skills include facility with word processing and spread sheet software packages.
A component of this position is general laboratory management support including participation in ordering and record keeping, compliance with health & safety procedures and verification of continuous supply of liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide to prevent loss of cells.
The position entails extensive interpersonal interactions with other members of the CF Center including students, postdocs, technicians and faculty to ensure effective transfer of materials and information.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Candidate must have an understanding of fundamental biochemical and cell biology concepts, familiarity with and capability of performing a wide variety of tissue culture procedures.
The candidate must be able to prioritize, manage tasks, handle a variety of demands, self-review work for accuracy and completeness, and understand and carryout oral and written instructions.
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is necessary.
Must have experience with MS Windows and MS Office software with proficiency in performing computer data entry and database organization.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience handing of tissue (human or animal).
Ability to operate and care for basic lab equipment.
Knowledge of standard office equipment.
Ability to work independently, take the initiative and have excellent organizational skills to maintain and manage records, supplies, and samples.
Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Ability to move 20 lbs with or without accommodation.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
