We are dedicated to improving the health of women, children and families - domestically and globally.
Our teaching program provides students with broad exposure to maternal and child health population needs and priorities, as well as with the skills to become leaders of tomorrow.
Currently the department has 31 faculty members, 20 of whom have primary appointments in Maternal and Child Health (MCH).
Complementing these faculty are four emeritus members, and more than 65 adjunct faculty, many of whom hold leadership positions in MCH research and practice settings.
Given the interdisciplinary nature of our department, faculty and staff research interests and activities span the full array of issues and areas of focus for the maternal and child health population.
Our initiatives are designed to create new knowledge and directly improve the health of this population.
Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Department of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) seeks a temporary research assistant for the evaluation team of its National MCH Workforce Development Center.
The position will perform a variety of evaluation tasks, including survey development and writing case reports.
The National MCH Workforce Development Center (the Center) provides workforce development for State MCH program leaders to implement health transformation.
The Center serves as a coordinating site, engaging with academic, policy and public health practice partners to provide workforce training.
Funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau, the Center is housed in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
The Research Assistant is expected to take initiative, engage with Center partners and stakeholders, and contribute to the development, management, and implementation of the Center's evaluation plan.
Working in collaboration with the project's Evaluation Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting with evaluation efforts to document the effectiveness of the Center.
To accomplish this goal, this research assistant will:
1) write new or update existing case reports and episode profiles for states/jurisdictions using existing survey data, interview transcripts, meeting notes, webinar transcripts and/or recordings; 2) develop new evaluation surveys; 3) download and prepare data files from electronic surveys for analysis; create tables and summarize results; and 4) use Center performance data to assess, document and share Center accomplishments.
This research assistant will meet bi-weekly (either in-person or remotely) with WDC Evaluation Team to check-in on progress, findings, address challenges, etc.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis and reporting desired; Working knowledge of principles and approaches of monitoring and evaluation, including theories of change, logic models, and formative and outcome evaluations; Demonstrated experience summarizing and reporting results from evaluation surveys and extracting information from webinar transcripts.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience with an electronic survey tool (e.
g.
Qualtrics) desired; Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and occasional increased workload volume; Working knowledge of maternal and child health issues at the state and national levels desired; Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and respectfully with people from different disciplines, backgrounds, and cultures.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
