WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world.
WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of seven stations.
Position
Summary:
As part of the Senior Leadership team, the Digital Content Director will shape strategic and editorial direction of the organization, ensuring alignment with WUNC's mission while also overseeing budgeting, contracting, project development, and community engagement for all digital content.
Position priorities include:
Development and strategic growth of current podcasts, programs, and initiatives with a focus on sustainability.
Build community through WUNC's podcasts, digital content, and Youth Reporting Institute (events, partnerships, engagement) Create KPIs for WUNC's digital content and build a strategic vision for new audience discovery.
Ideation and creation of new digital content.
The Digital Content Director supervises the content team and is responsible for creating a vision for WUNC's digital content creation and distribution with a focus on podcasts, develop a multi-platform digital content strategy, and foster efficient workflow and production systems for long-term sustainability.
They will also champion the expansion of WUNC's Youth Reporting Institute, building a holistic program within WUNC that serves the next generation of storytellers and audiences.
The Director will actively engage with the community, fostering relationships with new and existing audiences.
The Director will be committed to community engagement and will work closely with the Director of Community Partnerships and the rest of the content team to bring diverse stories into our podcasting platforms and engage with community partners and other creators to build a community around the content that we create.
They will ensure all digital content is on-brand, inclusive, consistent, and optimized for user experience, taking responsibility for digital content placement, acquisition, creation, and distribution across all WUNC's digital platforms.
Using audience data and trends, they will shape the evolution of WUNC's digital content creation and strategically use platforms to maximize audience growth and user experience.
They will establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for digital content and initiatives, aiding in staff performance evaluations, gauging the health of digital content products, and guiding the development of future digital offerings.
Collaborating with the Director of Development, the Digital Content Director will strategize around fundraising and revenue generation for digital content, participating in meetings and contributing to high-level communication strategies for promoting digital content initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
They will partner with the Content Marketing Lead to strategize market placement of digital content initiatives and events across social media and advertising platforms.
The Digital Content Director may occasionally fill in for other programming supervisory roles, participate in on-air fundraising activities, and make public appearances on behalf of the station.
On-air fill-in is a possibility for qualified candidates.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and
Experience:
The Digital Content Director will be an experienced journalist and audio producer and a proven leader with strong management, production, editorial, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and
Experience:
At least four years of management and supervisory experience preferred.
At least five years of experience as a digital content creator, producer, or journalist with increasing responsibility in each successive position.
Experience in producing podcasts and/or live events is preferred.
Experience at a listener-supported public radio station or network preferred.
Experience with public radio or related not-for-profit fundraising preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams.
Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, and ability to think creatively and innovatively.
Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with experience in audience research and data analysis.
Experience with community engagement and building relationships with diverse audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in creating and delivering presentations.
Passion for public media and a deep understanding of the role that public media plays in serving communities.
Commitment to community engagement and a desire to build a community around the content that WUNC creates.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
