Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA) has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University's global strategy while supporting global activity across campus.
Units that report to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs include Global Partnerships, Global Education, Communications, Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, Global Development, Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center and the Unified Business Cluster.
Position Summary The Admin Support Specialist in the OVPGA provides administrative and program management support for events under the Global Education unit and administrative support to the Associate Director for Global Education and the Global Education Program Manager on the development and implementation of global education programs specifically the Diplomacy Initiative and COIL and provides programmatic and logistical support to an array of on-campus, hybrid, and virtual education programming designed to advance the University's global strategy articulated in Carolina Next:
Innovations for Public Good.
Programming includes events, presentations, guest lectures, international and distinguished visitors, webinars, exhibits, awards, and other activities.
The Admin Specialist assists the OVPGA with coordination on program development and planning, program logistics, internal and external communications, assistance with marketing, event briefings, event coordination, scheduling, budget and expense tracking, and supporting research, and assessment as it pertains to programming pertaining to the office of Global Education.
The Admin Support Specialist reports to the Associate Director for Global Education and may supervise graduate or undergraduate student temp as and when directed to do so.
Frequent public contact (internal and external to the university) is a major component of this position.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Must have a proven track record in event management a including managing timelines, budgets, logistics, communications, and run of show.
Must anticipate problems and offer solutions.
Must have experience interacting with VIPs, dignitaries (foreign and domestic) and their advance teams.
Must be a team player, able to take direct and then work independently to realize goal.
Must be able to completely manage a program and make decisions independently while maintaining consistent contact with unit leadership.
Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
Must maintain a positive attitude and a calm and steady demeanor at all times.
Must have advanced skills in all applications of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and are comfortable learning new technology.
Experience supervising work teams during events.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preference for candidates with prior international or intercultural study, work, or personal (study/travel/living abroad) experience.
Experience with digital tools for project management is preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to lift or move 20lbs with or without accommodations.
Ability to focus and meet deadlines.
Attendance at occasional weeknight and weekend business events.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
