Camellia Forest is located off of NC-HWY 54 in Chapel Hill, NC.
We are primarily a mail-order nursery with a fully operational tea garden on site, offering workshops and hosting tea tasting events throughout the seasons.
We provide locally grown plants and seeds to camellia lovers and gardeners across the United States.
We specialize in camellias, yet have a diverse collection of woody trees and shrubs.
Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Potting plants Weeding Building greenhouses Building and repairing irrigation Working on drainage Packing plants into boxes Pulling plants for orders Customer service:
Greeting in-store customers, assisting in plant selection and over the phone plant questions/care, and taking orders over the phone.
Greenhouse cleaning and weeding Fertilizing Spraying Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday (9am to 5pm).
Applicants may be asked to adjust work schedule to Saturday or Sunday for some weekends throughout the spring and fall (hours vary).
There is some flexibility with hours over the summer, as we are closed on Sundays from June to August.
Customer service experience and previous outdoor work is preferred.
Ability to multitask and attention to detail is crucial.
Applicants must also be able to be on their feet for long hours, bend, and lift up to 40lbs.
There are potential hazards for this position, which include but are not limited to:
exposure to weather conditions, tools with sharp edges, dust, uneven walking surfaces, and exposure to pesticides.
Experience working outdoors and plant knowledge is a major plus.
Our facilities are quite rustic; plenty of running water, but no central heating or air.
A wood stove keeps us warm in the winter and fans keep the air moving in the summer.
