Department Description
The UNC Energy Frontier Research Center is funded by an award (2009-2018) from the US Department of Energy. Headquartered at UNC, the center is a collaborative research enterprise with partners at the University of Florida, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Colorado at Boulder. The center combines the best features of academic and translational research to study light/matter interactions and chemical processes for the efficient collection, transfer, and conversion of solar energy into chemical fuels. This UNC EFRC Executive Assistant position will provide administrative and budget support to the center.
Position Description
The UNC EFRC Executive Assistant provides administrative and budgetary support to the UNC Energy Frontier Research Center ( ) including administrative support for Center activities of the directors, faculty and researchers across four institutions; serving as the point of contact for energy-related and other queries to the center; management of EFRC web-based information databases; administrative support of funding agency compliance and of pre- and post-award grant support and reporting; administrative budget support including monitoring grant budgets and expenditures, and sub-contract invoicing; supervision of work-study students who provide administrative support to the center.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in business administration or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years' related experience in progressively responsible positions. Experience in academic administration or in a research setting, with demonstrated experience in conference and event planning is preferred. Manuscript editing experience is preferred. Knowledge of scientific literature search tools is preferred, including Web of Science, together with use of bibliographic software such as EndNote or similar tools. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, web design and videoconferencing tools would be an advantage. Experience with Listserv manager, InfoPorte, UNC finance systems, TIM and previous supervision of work-study students would also be an advantage.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
